A typical weekend with HLSD

Friday: It all started well. Arriving at Swanage camp site to find Dough had put his tent up [on the wrong pitch] more of this later. Robin having put his up on the right pitch. Some of the Snorkelling club that came down with me gave Robin a hand [if you can call it that] both had been donated by Bill. With the cries from Robin that where were enough poles. The frame went this way, then that way, then the other way. I was carrying on putting up my tent. Only to fine that I had the wrong tent covering the frame or was it the wrong frame under the tent. Robin was still crying for more poles. Never a man to give up he sent one of the boys to look for more pole. A little voice from the back of my van cries out, are these them holding an arm full of poles, there are more down here. This made Robin smile [not]. The people that had hired the pitch next to us arrived. Dough had disappeared with his son. His parting words were the tent will be aright there as not too many will be here this week end. I was still working on my tent. This left Robin to move Dough's tent. Robin is now getting good with tents. Others arrive the food was cooked. A beer was had.

Saturday: In the morning we made our way to Kimmeridge Bay . Kitting up, Dough manage to lose his mask, for good, then a fin. Robin found his fin. Not only is this man good with tents he is also good at finding fins. The dive was not up to much Hugh & Pete had a longer dive. Back to Swanage. A shallow dive was had a good one by all accounts. Back to the camp site. After unloading the van Dough realises that his weight belt is missing. Pete can't find his car keys & my sleeping bag I can't find??? Robin to the rescue again he takes Pete under his arm as to put it. After looking high & low it was decided to report it to the police. As we all know Pete can talk a lot Robin that man again sat outside the police station for one & a half hours. While Pete explained what had happened. On arriving back at the camp site, Robin that man again not one to give up, stands by Pete's car & phones his number again, a phone sounds. Now that man Robin, being a mechanic knows that you cannot lock your keys in that type of car. On his insistence Pete empties his bag again, & under the lining are his keys . We are all happy now drinks all round on Pete. This included a chocolate cake & ice cream sweet £ 4 00p for Ross Robins son. Got told off for having four tents on the site instead of two.

Sunday:   On arriving at Swanage pier I had a chat with the lady in the dive centre, a weight belt had been handed in. This I clamed as Dough's. One of my best dives in Swanage was had that morning large fish all over the place very warm the sea was flat. On packing up, my sleeping bag was found. One of the Snorkels' had used it as a pillow. Sitting down typing this out I think to myself this is just another dive week end with HLSD.
